Silverton Mountain is a unique backcountry skiing experience. One chair lift services only advanced and expert terrain. There are additional options for hike in and helicopter skiing. There are no groomed trails and the mountain has been left as is except for avalanche reduction work. Avalanche gear and liability releases are required to ski here. During certain times of the year only guided skiing is allowed. During other times unguided skiing is also allowed in certain places. Silverton Mountain is for expert skiers looking for extreme terrain. Most days there are less than 100 people on the mountain.
